Bedding
Who doesn’t appreciate lovely linen to climb into at the end of the day? Our edit of quality fabrics and tactile textures make bedtime something to really look forward to.

- Meriah Gauze Throw Blanket Anthropologie
There’s something so joyful about this blanket that shouts about summer even in the depths of winter. The Nordic nations change their curtains and cushions with the seasons and there’s no reason why we can’t do that here. That said if I had a large enough wall I would be tempted to hang it as a decoration.
- Deutzia Striped Reversible Linen Pillowcase La Redoute
Stripes always look good on bedding and this reversible pillowcase allows you to create that slightly mismatched look simply by flipping one side or the other. Also if you have a sleeping partner who hates cushions on beds then buy pretty pillowcases that look as good as cushions but you don’t have to throw them off at night.
- Gingham check duvet cover Mango
Checks are taking over the world one square at a time but it’s an easy pattern to incorporate with whatever you have already so you can mix and match. Gingham, is, of course, the classic and this will sit prettily with plain sheets and pillowcases or you can add a a plain burnt orange set or even anything floral or striped in similar colours.
- Organic Cotton Bedding Set Wearth London
An organic cotton set that includes a fitted sheet in sateen weave (which means soft rather than the crisper percale feel) and a choice of pillowcases. It's made from 100% GOTS and Soil Association certified organic cotton which is pesticide and toxic chemical-free and each duvet cover and sheet comes in a cotton drawstring bag which can be re-used - perfect for collecting dirty laundry when on holiday (yes I know what's one of those) and also packing shoes. Also comes in aquamarine and chocolate plum colour.
- Striped Duvet Cover Set H&M
You can't go wrong with a striped cotton duvet set (cover and two pillowcases) and this will form the basis of a more maximalist pattern clash if that is your bag. Otherwise team with cushions and/or a bedspread in a darker grey or a textured cream blanket for a cosy layered look.
- Joan Floral Print Duvet Cover La Redoute
You can clash this pattern with more florals, contrast with stripes or knock it back with colour blocking plain pillowcases - or, if you're feeling bold and don't find a lot of busyness before bed will stop you sleeping you can do a mix of all three.
- Waffle Cotton Bedspreads Soak&Sleep
Throw on a throw for a bit of colour or extra warmth in those dark January days.
- Checked duvet cover set H&M HOME
About a year ago on the blog I bemoaned the fact that having seen bedding like this at the Hoxton hotel in Paris, I was unable to find similar in the UK. And then everyone messaged to say they had found it. So here is one version. There are others.
- Antipodream Bedding Antipodream
I’m not going to pick out individual pieces as we’ll be here all day but if you love patterned bedding with a vintage feel then you will be in heaven here. And if you need advice on how to mix different patterns and shapes then pay attention to the styled shots - there’s a masterclass right there that you can carry over into cushions and rugs if you note how it’s done.

- Siena Silver Grey Ruffle Linen Duvet Cover Graham & Green
Washed 200 thread count cotton and lots of ruffles make for a very romantic bed indeed. It’s just shrieking Mr Darcy.
